Its December! Finally, and you may feel it all over the place, especially with the preparations to celebrate. What does this mean for you who want to keep a healthy body? You do not have to go on the bandwagon of binge eating and making bad health decisions. Here are 4 tips that can help you overcome the temptations this month.
- Watch your Portions
You probably know this already but just a reminder that your food portions matter. There can be a bit of a challenge to decide what amount of food is enough especially when it’s your auntie serving it. Be firm on what you would need at each serving and people will get used to it.
2. Sleep Enough

Now did you know that sleep deprivation can cause weight gain? During the holiday it’s not uncommon to have sleepless nights. Well, you know celebrations can get a little overboard. But be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep if you do not want to gain weight. Lack of sleep aggravates the hunger hormones and may make you crave food more than you should.
3. Keep the meal Balanced

Do not forget that you still need to eat your veggies and proteins do not overindulge in snacks and carbs to forget the other essential parts of your meal. There is a great temptation to go with the flow of what everyone else is doing but do not fall on that bandwagon. Drink water, and take fruits and fibre as well.
4. Limit the liquid calories
Many people over-focus on food intake as where calories are found but did you know that many drinks such as juice, soda and wine have calories as well? Those drinks contribute to a significant number of calories in the body. So, you may need to go slow on it. Remember that alcohol consumption is highly linked to weight gain. Be sure to be mindful of that during this season as well.
The festive season doesn’t have to mean reckless drinking and bad health choices, it means being mindful to thank your body for carrying you throughout the year by giving it a healthy diet. Take care of your body and educate people around you to do the same too.
